Welcl Buddyis a travel-editorial magazine about Korea, Japan, and China, written for foreigners. We cover culture, food, practical tips, itineraries, hidden gems, and pop-culture filming locations — the parts of East Asia that don't fit on a top-10 list.
We are deliberately not a comprehensive travel guide. Lonely Planet and TripAdvisor do that. We sit alongside them, focused on the cultural nuance that turns a polite tourist into a welcomed guest: the bow you didn't know was a 30-degree, the kissaten whose menu is in Japanese only, the hutong inn no guidebook lists.
How we publish — in plain language
Articles are written with AI (Anthropic's Claude) from our per-country editorial briefs and published automatically, about three a day, then machine-translated into four more languages. No person reviews an article before it goes live. Errors are corrected after publication when readers report them or the operator finds them in its own checks, as in the September 2026 correction pass, but those checks do not cover every article.

Who runs Welcl Buddy
Welcl Buddy is operated by (주)구윤유남, which is responsible for everything published here. We do not currently list individual editors or use personal bylines, and we do not use invented personas. Operator and business-registration details are on the Terms of Service page, and corrections can be sent through the Contact page.
The language layer
One thing that makes Welcl Buddy different: we treat language as part of the trip. Native-script terms appear in articles with romanisation and a brief gloss. The Phrasebookcollects useful Korean, Japanese, and Chinese phrases grouped by situation — market, café, taxi, emergency. We are not a fluency course. We are the language part of being there.
Local Buddy — the funnel context
Welcl Buddy is the content-first sister property of Local Buddy, a Seoul travel-buddy matching service also operated by (주)구윤유남. A Local Buddy card appears at the end of articles in every country and on the home page, and Korea articles also carry a short in-article callout labelled "Sponsored · Local Buddy". Those are the only first-party promotions on the site. Display ads come from Google AdSense and are matched automatically; we don't hand-pick them.
What we do not do
- Contemporary politics, cross-strait or Korea-Japan relations, religious-state controversies.
- Breaking news, celebrity gossip, idol-private-life speculation.
- Pay-for-placement editorial recommendations.
- AI-generated images passed off as photographs.
- Undated factual corrections — since September 2026 each one carries a dated note.
