Welcl Buddy is a travel magazine about Korea, Japan, and China, written for foreign travelers. This page describes plainly how the articles are produced, what is checked and what is not, and how to get a mistake fixed.

How articles are produced

Articles are written with AI(Anthropic's Claude) from our editorial briefs for each country: tone, angle, topics to avoid, and a list of subjects already covered. They are published automatically, about three a day. Each article is then machine-translated into Korean, Japanese, Chinese, and Spanish.

No person reviews an article before it is published. Before publication the only checks are automated ones: length, formatting, and a comparison against recent titles to avoid repeating a topic.

After publication, errors are corrected when readers report them or the operator finds them in its own checks, such as the July 2026 site-wide rewrite and the September 2026 correction pass. Those checks do not cover every article, so the one you are reading may not have been checked.

What this means for practical details

AI-written text can contain prices, opening hours, transport details, and rules that are wrong or out of date. Treat practical details in our articles as a starting point, and confirm them with the venue, operator, or an official tourism source before you travel.

When a detail has been checked against an official source during a correction, the article links to that source and gives the date it was checked.

What we cover, and what we don't

Travel articles in six categories per country: Culture, Food & Cafes, Practical Tips, Itineraries, Hidden Gems, and Pop Culture & Filming Locations. We do not publish breaking news, political analysis, sports coverage, or celebrity gossip, and we avoid contemporary politics, cross-strait or Korea-Japan relations, and religious-state controversies.

Native-language terms

Korean, Japanese, and Chinese terms are given in native script with romanisation on first use. We aim to follow Revised Romanisation for Korean, modified Hepburn for Japanese, and Hanyu Pinyin for Chinese. These terms are AI-written too; if one is wrong, please tell us.

Cover images

Most covers are Creative Commons-licensed photographs from Flickr and Wikimedia Commons, found through an automated image search and credited under the image with a link to the original. Because the match is automated, a cover can be unrelated to the article; when we find or are told about one, we replace it or remove it.

Some culture articles use AI-generated illustrations instead. They are credited "Illustration: Welcl Buddy (AI)" and are not presented as photographs.

Corrections

If you find an error, email designloversko@gmail.com or use the Contact page. Include the article URL, the sentence you think is wrong, and a source if you have one.

From September 2026, when we correct a factual error we add a dated correction note at the end of the article. Earlier revisions, including a site-wide rewrite in July 2026, were made without individual notes.

Who is responsible

Welcl Buddy is operated by (주)구윤유남 (CEO 구태한), which is responsible for everything published on the site. We do not currently list individual editors, and articles carry no personal bylines. Full operator details are on the Terms of Service page.

Advertising and promotion

The site shows Google AdSense advertising. We also promote Local Buddy (localbuddy.kr), a Seoul travel-buddy service also operated by (주)구윤유남: a Local Buddy card appears at the end of articles in every country and on the home page, and Korea articles also carry a short in-article callout labelled "Sponsored · Local Buddy". We do not accept payment for coverage inside articles.
